China Solves Road Congestion The Futuristic Way With This Alien Looking Bus

Remember the hype about the proposed elevated bus in China? Many people thought that it would be a sick and unrealistic idea. Internet folks even thought that China was losing its mind. Well, that thing just became real. After all the bad news that surround China, this one makes an exemption.

On August 2, 2016, the 21-meter long, electric-powered Transit Elevated Bus (TEB) hit the road for its first road test in the north-eastern city of Qinhuangdao. Locals can't help but to stare as the high-tech straddling bus leaves its hangar for the first time.

On May of the same year, China released a video about the concept of TEB. Many people were fascinated by the design of this futuristic vehicle. It also made a huge buzz in Reddit on whether or not the concept would become real.   However, as the hype kept on disappearing 3 months after the release of the video, China's official news agency Xinhua launched a press release about the testing of the said transit.

The new Chinese bus can carry up to 300 passengers and can run up to 60kph. It is also designed to replace subways as its height allows smaller vehicles to pass underneath it. Boarding this bus also cuts travel time due to its ability to pass above the traffic.

From a miniature model back in May, Jinchuang Corp, the TEB developer made a vow to launch the real model in August and they didn't disappoint the public as this future-looking vehicle hits the road.

According to the the project's chief engineer, Song Youzhou the biggest advantage of having the TEB is that it saves a lof of road space, easing the traffic congestion.

Now that Transit Elevated Bus has become real, questions from around the world emerge about how sustainable this bus will be, the height issue when crossing above higher vehicles, accessibility problems, and even Chinese driving habits. No one could really tell until the results of the tests are released.
